Carolin Lopato's Story

''In the face of adversity, I have navigated a remarkable journey in the past few years. Overcoming a challenging period that led to three months off, several admissions into the hospital, and surgery, I defied the odds by preparing for and successfully passing my RICS APC and becoming a chartered building surveyor in a mere two and a half months. As a black woman in construction, a building surveyor, and a civil engineer, I have encountered my share of challenges, with individuals attempting to undermine my abilities. Despite such obstacles, I have found strength in those who uplift and champion me. This journey underscores the resilience required in my field, and I am proud to stand as a testament to the power of perseverance and unwavering self-belief''.

Nicola Harris's Story

Praise be to God The career transition I've longed for has finally happened.

  Scripture ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‭-‬12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

If you know me well enough I won't have to tell you how frustrated I was; constantly hoping for change, complaining about things beyond my control, not trusting in God's plan and feeling stuck in a rutt. So I hustled hard; side jobs, contracted work, Saturday job on top of working through the week...I was exhausted but it was all done in search of the way out of a career that no longer gave me joy.

One day I stopped fretting and I just prayed Then I made a commitment to read my bible daily as I woke up and set myself a few scriptures to read on a regular basis.

From that day, my life changed! You may not believe in the power of prayer but I do. I prayed for a job at Savills and I shared this prayer request with my nearest and dearest.

My church prayed for me too and I spoke with my pastor Geoff Folkes about my career goals and just look at God!

I'm so grateful for all God has done and all he is about to do in my life.

I've been blessed with a great team in a role better than the one I prayed for! Take it from me...

Pray without ceasing!
